And Attended His First Middle School Party All In One Week!
Where has the time gone? It was just yesterday that I was changing your diapers and flying all over the world with you in my arms. This week I was bless to witness my last baby boy graduate from 5th Grade which means I’m officially a parent of a Middle Schooler for the third time! Literally where does the time go?
Lord I need you to give me a few weeks in slow motion! This week has been filled with all sorts of emotions. When I gave birth to Mario I was at the height of my career in “Corporate” and working towards what seemed like the “American Dream” back then while tugging around a baby inside me. Although all of my pregnancies were amazing I think by far that my last baby not only looks like me, acts like me, has my genius brain but he’s always been a tender heart string. He’s in no rush to grow up and he loves that he’s a kid and doing kid things is right up his alley. I mean this is my baby who still builds a FORT. The last day of school this baby asked me could he build his traditional fort and of course I said yes. This has been a tradition for as long as I can remember with him and although he’s starting Middle School in the Fall I will still climb in his fort and enjoy a few of his favorite movies: Batman, Spider Man, Flash and Avengers.
The last few weeks have been jammed packed with graduation preparations, shooting commencement images for the kids, decorating for the graduation and tears of joy on his BIG DAY! As the moment approached four 5th grade classes lined up to take their final stroll around the Elementary School that held a plethora of memories and as they approached the cafeteria they made their grand entrance on the red carpet that we prepared for them on their BIG DAY.
I wasn’t prepared for the emotions that I would feel as I watched my baby boy walk across the stage to receive his certificate of completion and his honors for scoring great on the Milestones Examination. Perhaps I was so caught up in the moment capturing lifetime photos that he will cherish for years to come. The day just brought me so much joy. CONGRATULATIONS MARIO! MOMMY LOVES YOU TO LIFE!
Can you believe that he will graduate high school in 2025?
Fast forward to Today, May 27, 2018 and as I’m at church serving on the social media ministry he was getting dropped off to his FIRST OFFICIAL MIDDLE SCHOOL PARTY! Like seriously all in the same week! Whew! It really hit home today. What’s funny is although he’s getting older he’s still my baby. He was so excited about attending today’s party that he left a sticky note on my bathroom mirror for me to find as I was getting ready for church that read “Mommy Please Wake Me Up In The Morning”. I can just see in his eyes that he’s ready for the next chapter of his life. It’s a blessing to raise kids and allow them to just be that…KIDS!
Listen! This is how loving my baby boy is…he saved me a Coca-Cola (because I’m sort of addicted to them LOL)
Stay tuned because it’s going to be an interesting Summer.
How did you feel when you noticed your baby wasn’t a baby anymore?
