Happy Mail: What I Received From My Pen Pal #1 | Snail Mail

Who doesn’t like to receive HAPPY MAIL from a Pen Pal?

Hey Darlings! How are you all doing this week? We’ll its BACK TO SCHOOL Week for me and unfortunately I can’t say that I’m happy because now the house is completely quiet and honestly I love having the kids home but not enough to home school them LOL! Any who! I wanted to share with you guys that I decided to pick up a childhood favorite of mine, Pen-palling. Yes! You read that correctly! I’m in an amazing group on Facebook call SnailMailerRus. Listen! This group is active turned up 1000 and I absolutely LOVE IT!

Every month we are allowed to list 10 wishes that we would like granted and the rules are if someone grants a wish then you return the favor to someone else. Totally fair and it’s a great way to keep the cycle going. We also have a plethora of tags which can range from Candy tags to Wacky Wednesday Tags. The possibilities are endless. This post is about my first letters and tags that I received thus far. I am also in a fe other pen pal groups but by far the SnailMailersRUs is my favorite and so well-organized.

Last week I gathered all of my pen pal letters, wishes granted and tags and headed to my local post office to send out “Happy Mail” to a few pen pals. **WARNING** It can become slightly addictive receiving mail and sending mail as well. It brings you a different type of joy to see someone surprised by your letter or package. Never underestimate a small thankful gift. Keep in mind that the postage can be costly if your shipping something weekly. Here’s a look at my first set that I sent off to bring a smile to a few faces.

This past week I received my very first set of pen pal letters from three different states (only two are featured: Kentucky and New York).

In case you’re wondering how penal letters work its super simple and there are so many ways to get them started. Here are a few ways to jump start your pen pal journey:

  1. Start your letter off with a few things about yourself and ask your pen pal to answer the same questions. This helps you get to know them better.
  2. Start your letter with your name, age, number of kids along with your favorites: Ice Cream, Hobbies, Movies, Animals, Food, etc.
  3. Send a snail mail package full of your favorite tea bags, candy, mini journals, etc.

Just think of it this way. Instead of answering the questions over the phone you’re answering them via hand written letter. It’s just that simple! Needless to say that I was excited to receive my second set of mail which includes a wish granted and a candy tag all the way from Germany.
