November is upon us and this marks that the official holiday season has begun. This month marks the normal hustle and bustle for many shoppers as they prepare for the much-anticipated Holiday Shopping season and with that comes the famous “Black Friday” Shopping Festivities. Tis the season for families to host holiday events for their family and friends. As we all start to prepare for this year’s holiday season by preparing our homes for decorations, parties and creating mile long shopping list lets all be mindful that its important to be charitable this season. Macy’s Heart of Haiti and Rwanda Path to Peace collections are an amazing way to support a great cause and help Haiti. What better way could you thank of to decorate your house with except adding a piece from the collection  and these pieces are perfect for giving back. The Macy’s Heart of Haiti and Rwanda Path to Peace also make the perfect heart warming gift for your family and friends plus is shows that you are in support of the Haiti cause. Macy’s went to Rwanda in 1995, in efforts to help support the struggling economy. If you recall that in 1994, Rwanda was torn apart by the swift and brutal genocide which resulted in close to a million Rwandan citizens murdered. The statistics during the aftermath showed that 70% of the small African nation was made up of women whom are faced with a very uncertain future so they turn to their past and reclaimed their unique heritage of weaving. In an effort to help rebuild their communities and lives so they began to create unique hand-woven items and this July marked the 20 year anniversary. This year Macy’s marks their 10 year anniversary of the Rwanda Path to Peace collection. Macy’s truly considers their relationship with the Rwandan weavers a committed partnership. They launched this program in 2005 and have been importing baskets from Rwanda ever since. In fact, today the Path to Peace project has become larger than they could have ever expected, employing over 2,500 weavers and impacting tens of thousands of lives. Focused on trade, not aid, the Rwanda Path to Peace project has put the power of opportunity into the hands of the women of Rwanda which not only helps provide them with sustainable income but allows then to become active in creating a path for their future. hoh1 I was excited to receive this beautiful large hand-woven bread basket. The bread basket contains amazing splashes of color that had indeed added a vibrant accessory to my formal living room area where I will host most of my holiday events.  As you can see I am presently using mine to hold fresh fruit which just another way that it adds love to your home. I love the fact this its made of sweet grass and raffia and is very easy to wipe clean in the event of tiny fingers leaving prints. I have many other baskets made of sweet grass but this particular one is dear to my heart. As I am creating my shopping list for family members I have added this bread basket along with a few other items that are also apart of the Path to Peace collection. Everyone’s Black Friday list should at least contain an item from the Path to Peace Collection and what’s so awesome about making a purchase you are helping fellow women to rebuild their communities, helping provide income for them to support them and their families and each bowl is a unique work of art , comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity  and would serve as a special gift for a special person. I have already ordered three which I will be blessing my mother, sister and aunt with for their Christmas gifts this holiday season. Have you ordered your Peace to Path item yet? These are gifts that give hope! Don’t you want to be apart of this life changing movement?  Click here to head over to Macy’s site.
