Happy Summer Darlings! The kids and I are in Fort Lauderdale for a mini vacation before school starts. I seriously can’t believe that the summer is almost over. We decided to pick a spot that we haven’t visited in a long time. Plus the kids love the beach and the specials on lodging were too good to resist.
Upon looking for places to eat we stumbled upon BBQ Smoke. Now everyone knows that my family and I love a great BBQ. In the past month we visited Hattie Marie’s in Atlanta and needless to say that I was not impressed. You can read about that experience here.
The kids and I eyed this spot while exploring different places to eat during our stay. We decided to not read any reviews to deter us from trying the restaurant. Plus the plethora of aroma that you could smell when passing by definitely sold us. Upon walking in BBQ Smoke we were instantly greeted and the full menu and options were described to us. This was definitely a great start! The sign says it all!
We learned that all of their meats are the highest quality and smoked in-house daily over Post Oak wood for up to 16 hours. Here’s some great details that go into their BBQ:
The Wood
I learned that Smoke BBQ uses natural Post Oak wood with all of their meats, then adds a blend specific to the type of meat. The wood selected for the meat is no different from pairing a fine wine to complement a meal.
The Meat
Before the first plume of smoke rises from their custom-made Ole Hickory pits, Smoke BBQ separates itself from the competition by sourcing the highest quality meats from specific regions of the US. Whether it is Midwest Angus Beef Brisket or Jalapeno-Cheddar Sausage produced with premium ingredients in Texas, they start with only the finest meats (with no antibiotics, no steroids, and no added hormones).

The Rub
Kosher salt, crushed black peppercorns, cayenne pepper as well as many other natural ingredients can be found in one of their 5 unique rubs. Like the wood selection, their rubs are designed to enhance the flavor of the meat. All their rubs are designed and prepared in-house daily.
The kids and I all decided that after researching Smoke BBQ that we would all order something different so that we could sample a few items. Let m start by saying that I LOVE FRENCH FRIES but I’m definitely not a tater tot girl so my youngest decided that he would select them for his side and man was I upset! Why was I upset? Because I should have ordered me some too. When we got back home and settled in which was probably 10-15 minutes later his tater tots were not only still warm but Lord have mercy on the seasoning that they used on those heavenly bites. He also dry rubbed wings! A 10 piece at that! Listen that baby loves some good wings. He said that they were so delicious that he didn’t even need any sauce.

My teenage son decided that the pulled pork sandwich which consist of their moist. slo-smoked Pulled Pork piled high on a delicious bun served with house made BBQ potato chips. Yep! You heard me correctly. They make theses chips daily in house and Lord knows they were amazing.

Last but not least I decided to order the Beef Brisket Sandwich. Oh Lord it was stacked with their sliced slow-smoked Angus Beef Brisket. Listen I can truly say that I have had some amazing BBQ all over the world during my travels but this by far is “THE BEST” that I have ever had. It also came with the delicious house made BBQ Potato Chip and I added a side of their baked mac ‘n cheese (which isn’t pictured because I basically ate it so fast that I forgot to snap a picture).

It’s always a treat when I’m traveling or even wandering around Atlanta and stumble upon a hidden gem. Smoke BBQ is definitely a hidden gem in Fort Lauderdale. It’s not strategically placed on a corner or on a main road its off of a busy road that leads both ways to the beach depending on which side you prefer to be on. I will say that if you’re not looking for it or previously did research on it then you will probably miss it unless is referred to you by word of mouth. I’m positive that the locals keep it a secret for so many reason. Hey I would too if I lived in the area. I 100% endorse their brand and no this isn’t a paid post it’s just me having another one of my adventures and stumbling upon a real treasure. The kids and I are actually leaving the pool shortly once I finish writing this post and heading their for the second time and I am sure that before we head back to Atlanta we will probably eat there at least one more time. After all I still have to try their yellowcake cornbread with cinnamon butter which I may add to this post if it’s not consumed before I get a picture and the cornbread ice cream (Wilton Creamery Buttermilk Ice Cream & Cinnamon). Let’s face it this post is about to have a continuation below. LOL!
