***I was provided a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage from Drive STI. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.***
My oldest son and I was excited to have the opportunity to test drive the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage for a week. This was actually our first time driving the car and I was just as curious as my 19-year-old to see how the car drove. Since my son graduated high school and we begun visiting colleges I started to notice more kids his age were driving the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage. When I was asked to review the car it couldn’t have come at a better time because we were visiting local colleges here in Atlanta along with him training with his basketball coach and of course the normal mommy duties of running errands and taking the younger kids to their activities. My first glance at the car when it arrived was the crazy bright kiwi green color. I am not sure if I would eat a kiwi if it was hat bright LOL but my son definitely didn’t mind the color. I will say that I truly liked how Mitsubishi put thought into the colors and models when they were creating this particular vehicle because is gives a mother the feel that it was designed with your child in mind and complete with all the safety trimming. Way to go Mitsubishi! I was pleasantly pleased with the features and amenities that included but were not limited to:
- 4 Door, 5 Passenger hatch which is perfect for his basket ball friends
- 1.2L 3-cyl MIVE DOHC engine producing 74 horsepower and 74 lb/ft of torque
- 37 City/ 44 Highway with customer reported 50+ MPG ( I actually got 51)
- Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist
- Electric Power Steering
- 7 airbags including driver’s knee impact airbags (Side curtain airbags)
- MacPherson Front Struts with Stabilizer bar and Rear Torsion Beam
- Bluetooth hands free phone system
- Anti-theft engine mobilizer
- Push Button Start
- Rear View Camera System
If you take a closer look you will notice that I set my keys in the cup holder. If you above that you will notice that there is a space to place the remote key which I though was really cool especially when considering this vehicle for a teenager. We all know that they are focused on other things and I am sure that they misplace their keys all of the time so I found this small added bonus a plus in my book.
My oldest is ready to hit the road! I never told him that we were getting a car to review so imagine how surprised he was when he came home and saw the car in the driveway. I wanted to get his opinion of the car so I let him drive it a few times to basketball practice with me in the car of course since it was a loaner and he loved the vehicle. He was not a fan of the color which is totally understandable since he is a guy and the color would probably be more appealing to a girl. I do want to point out at first glance this car may look small but it is quite roomy and able to fit five people without them being stuffed. You can’t see in the picture but my two little ones are in the car as well as my oldest sons friend who is just as tall as my son.
We’ll from the look on my sons face I would say that he definitely doesn’t have any complaints. I honestly think that he really enjoyed driving the Mirage better than my Infinite SUV because this car is so much smaller and easier to handle. I’m not saying that he can’t handle my SUV but the mirage is so much easier for a teenager to drive and in my opinion its the perfect starter car. My son has had his license a little under a year and has been driving my SUV so this was indeed a great change and I am now looking into more pricing on a mirage for him. So if you’re in the market for a car that’s the perfect starter car for your teenager, why not head to your local Mitsubishi Dealer and check out their 2015 Mirage.

I used to own a Mirage myself years ago, and it was a great car-good on gas, and dependable. Thanks for the review, this looks like a nice little car.
