5 WAYS TO PUT YOURSELF FIRST: PRACTICE SELF-CARE

Hey Darlings! The past week or so I have been so stressed out. Perhaps I’m just over reacting and worrying a bit too much. It wasn’t until the other day that I was working on a campaign that was due that I felt a serious tension migraine from my left side of my neck to my temple. It dawned on me that I’m just stressing myself out. I took fifteen minutes to take a short walk around the subdivision to unwind. It was during my walk and enjoying nature that I vowed to switch up my routine and be more intentional about practicing self-care even if its five or sixty minutes. Here are 5 Ways To Put Yourself First by practicing self-care and can be put into immediate action with minimum cost to you.

#1 GIVE YOURSELF A FOOT MASSAGE 

Did you know that our feet literally bear the weight of the whole body? If you have a small tennis ball or a few socks to stuff inside another sock you can use it to place under your foot and roll back & forth. Feet are the least pampered part of the body. A regular foot massage  helps in promoting physiological as well as physical health. This is a great way to practice self-care.

 

#2 TURN YOUR SHOWER OR BATH TIME INTO A RETREAT

This is the perfect time to splurge on a great smelling body wash or salts, a few roses petals and fancy candles to help set the ambiance. Tell “Google” or “Alexa” to play some jazz or calming music to help you relax. Take these moments to simply unwind and ease your mind of any stress, care of concerns. This is “YOUR TIME“.

#3 DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY. DO SOMETHING THAT BRINGS YOU JOY.

This is the time to surround yourself with happiness. Happiness could be a great cup of coffee or tea, buy a bouquet of flowers, buy a large fry or a banana split. Whatever makes you happy! It could be going to the book store to buy a book or calling a few like minded friends and having lunch.

#4 INDULGE WITH THE GUILT

Head to your favorite nail shop and get the “Glam” treatment. A pedi and mani is just what the doctor ordered. Enjoy a piece of your favorite cake or pie. Pop open a bottle of your favorite champagne that you were saving for a special celebration. Buy those stilettos that you’ve been watching for the past few weeks. 

#5 LAUGH OUT LOUD UNAPOLOGETICALLY

Take moments throughout the day and just laugh. Laugh out loud with no regrets. Tell a joke. Listen to a joke. Watch a funny video on youtube or watch a comedy show. It’s these little moments that make life amazing. Don’t get so wrapped up in living a busy life and forget to enjoy it.
