2015 is already starting off with a bang! Carnival just announced their first cruise to their newest Caribbean’s Newest Destination to Amber Cove In the Dominican Republic on the Bay of Maimon near Puerto Plata in the country’s North Coast. The new facility represents one of the largest cruise ship industry investments that have ever been made in the Dominican Republic.
The project was created to re-establish the Dominican Republic’s as a popular destination. The last cruise ship to port at Puerto Plata was 30 years ago. What’s even more exciting is the new two-berth Amber Cove Cruise Center will have the capacity to accommodate up 8,000 cruise passenger and 2,000 cruise crew daily. There will also be a transportation hub allowing visitors to easy access by land and sea.
The Dominican Republic’s newest cruise will have their first Carnival arrival on October 6, 2015 for a day-long call. The visit by Carnival Victory will be the first of 37 calls by eight different Carnival ships that will take place between October 2015 and April 2016 which will account for more than 100,000 guest.
As an avid traveler I for one am extremely excited about this new addition for Carnival. I love taking cruise trips and I will be one of the first bloggers to jump on the band wagon to set sail over. After all who doesn’t want to go to the Dominican Republic for an amazing getaway? My bags are already packed! See you Dominican Republic in 2015!
