The kids and I had an opportunity to visit the College Football Hall of Fame and Chick-fil-A Fan Experience recently that opened here in Atlanta in August of 2014. The College Football Hall of Fame is a hall of fame and museum devoted to college football. The Hall of Fame was previously located on South Bend, Indiana, the new Hall of Fame is 94,256 square feet attraction located in the heart of Atlanta’s sport, entertainment and tourism district.
The kids and I honestly did not know what to expect upon our arrival to the College Football Hall of Fame. We were immediately greeted by the wonderful marketing team from both Chick-fil-A and the Hall of Fame and enjoyed breakfast with other families as we received our media credentials and prepared for our days adventure. The kids and I thought that the hall was going to be another boring museum full of archives but we were totally wrong. Upon entering the hall of fame we were greeted by Fumbles where the kids stopped and had a photo opp. The entry to the Hall of Fame was simply breath taking. When you enter the building there are kiosk where you scan your interactive badges and enter all of your information which will maintain all of your information for each and every visit. How awesome is that? The kids each entered their favorite college football team and then we were each instructed to look up at the beautiful wall above to see the helmet that represented our team light up. It was amazing. Needless to say at that moment we knew that this was not your average museum.
The kids were so excited to see what was in store for them during the day. The start of our tour began with the kids stopping and interacting with wall artifacts that taught them about important facts in college football history of triumph and truths of how a host of coach’s and players rose to the top of their game by working collectively as a team and going on to win championships. The kids loved the way that they could scan their badges, interact with the artifacts while earning achievements.
The Hall of Fame wowed the kids in the creative manner in which it captures the stories and accomplishments of the players who broke records. The unique way that they chose to cement their legacy in a one-of-a-kind experience simply melted our heart and made us want to be apart of the experience. It made us feel as if we were actually there at the games watching them live.
The kids expressed the joy that they received from being able to sit in an actual theater which is known as the Game Day Theater. Visitors of the museum are delighted with a high definition feature film titled “The Game of Your Life”. The theater provides an extraordinary viewing experience that take you on an behind-the-scenes journey of a game day, narrated through the perspectives of former players and coaches.
The kids had a ball in the KIA Building A Champion section of the museum. The kids had the opportunity to scan their badges on a huge interactive wall and see pictures and stories about the college team that they had selected, trophies that were won over the years that were now stored in the hall of fame and a huge open hall of interactive activities for the kids to experience. The kids even had the opportunity to be a sport caster on air! How awesome is that? The truly amazing thing is that everything that you do is tracked through your badge and logged with your identification number on your badge.
Wondering how you end all of this excitement? We’ll the fun doesn’t stop because after all of the fun interactive educational learning with the kids now its time for them to get their physical health fun time. Can you imagine how excited my kids were when they saw this huge inside obstacle course where they could continuously play over and over and over again? I have all boys so they were extremely excited. We actually stayed over two extra hours after our initial visit just so that they could play football and run around the obstacle course. My kids had so much fun.
We had an amazing experience and will definitely be making the College Hall Of Fame apart of our Summer Destination spots to visit during the Summer months. The kids are still talking about how much fun they had and the fact that there’s a Chick-fil-A on site for Breakfast or Lunch so there’s no need for me to worry about them eating too much junk food plus they will work off the extra energy in the obstacle course before we head home. I think when people come to the Hall of Fame they will be pleasantly surprised because this is a totally different spin on what one would assume a typical museum would be so if your ever in the Atlanta area please make sure that you head down to the College Hall of Fame because you will Love Every Minute!
