Howdy Ya’ll! I’m coming to you from Dallas, Texas. I’m in town for the weekend to work with one of my clients and you all know how adventurous I am so yesterday I was searching for somewhere to eat when I ran across an oddly looking restaurant/bar call Gas Monkey. Yep! You heard me correctly. It was called the Gas Monkey. This is one of those places that puts you in mind of a movie scene when someone walks into the wrong bar and the music stops and everyone stops and stares. The Gas Monkey is indeed a bit different from your normal restaurant but you already know that I was definitely up for the challenge.
Did the weird truck turn you off? Absolutely Not! I was actually intrigued by the view and as I began to walk up to the door I was actually feeling their décor.
Are you ready? Let’s take a walk inside the infamous Gas Monkey.
So can we talk about how crazy this place is? I’m sure that this is the hot spot for bikers and corporate rejects waiting for cocktail hour but all in all I loved this weird spot. I took a glance at the menu then jumped on a heated phone call with one of my BFF’s, Kammie. I guess I will blame it on the alcohol because by this time I was sipping on my amaretto sour and daring her to send a message to her old Boo (LOL). I finally decided to order their BBQ ribs with cheddar grits. Please keep in mind that I’m very sensitive about my grits and these were definitely not to my liking. Any who my food was served on what appeared to be a 9X13 baking pan but hey you be the judge!
The food was great with the exception of the grits. You know us Southern Belles are particular about our grits. The staff was amazing and the on select nights they have live events which is wonderful. When I visit Dallas again in the upcoming months I will be sure to stop by again with my fellow Cowgirls for dinner.
