So How’s My Training Going?
This post is sponsored. I’m participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day® Atlanta. All opinions are my own.
Who knew that training for the Atlanta Susan G. Komen 3-Day® was going to be a challenge for me? Honestly I had no idea. What I definitely can appreciate is how awesome the Atlanta Susan G. Komen team is to have put together an amazing walking/training guide that you can follow to get yourself ready for the BIG DAY! Can you believe that in less than a month I will be joining some of the most amazing women in Atlanta to walk for an amazing cause?
How I’m Preparing & Training For The Susan G. Komen 3-Day®
Let the fun begin! I’m always in the gym, at least 4-5 days a week working out. I realized that as the time dwindles down I have to step up my workout game. My goal is to prep my legs, feet and back for the upcoming walk. The treadmill is my best friend! Since I’ve been training I have actually been spending more time on the treadmill along with walking while using mini weights to get my speed up per mile. I’m sure that my puppy Tux is so tired of me taking him on those extra long morning and evening walks that we have been embarking on in preparation for the 3-Day.
Honestly I’ve been a bit worried rather I will be the slowest in the group but after talking to several veteran walkers I begin to feel better about what my pace will be during the walk. It’s amazing when you have a powerful team around that motivate you to do your best. It’s empowering knowing that we’re all walking for a cause and saving lives in the process.
Listen! When I tell you that Susan G. Komen® has everything that you need to be successful. Please BELIEVE IT! Did you know that you can head over to their site and set up your 3-Day Friend Finder Profile? OMG! It’s the best! It’s the perfect way for you to locate fellow participants in your area. It’s so easy! All you have to do is input your information and it immediately connects you to others so you can train or walk together during your upcoming three day. How Awesome is that? Unfortunately I didn’t find any of my personal friends but a plethora of other walkers close to my area.
Not a person who likes to train? No worries because they have simplified it for you. Once you’ve signed up remember to head to the Susan G. Komen website or Facebook and find you a coach or two to assist you in your walk. I also found both the 16-week and 24-week training guides as life savers. Although I’m still slightly lagging on my training guide miles I can definitely see the difference in where I started and where I am now with my training. Always keep these two very important tips in mind while training:
- Wear comfortable workout apparel.
- Stay HYDRATED!!! H2O is your BFF!
