Hey Moms & Dads! Do you like making Grill Cheese Sandwiches? I received a Magic Chef Air Fryer a month or so ago to test out with my family. I was especially excited about receiving one because I had been contemplating rather I wanted to invest in one after hearing many of my close friends and my bonus mom rave about their air fryer. When the opportunity presented itself it was perfect timing because the kids were just getting out of school and you all know what that means. COOKING, COOKING and MORE COOKING!

The moment that our air fryer arrived I noticed that it was the perfect compact size for my counter. In fact the size is 1.6 Quarts which for my kids is perfect for what some would consider snack size food but please don’t get it twisted because you can prepare full meals for the family if needed. As we unboxed our new gadget I went through all of the safety hazards with both of my younger sons ages 16 & 12. My 16-year-old is actually dual enrolled in both high school and college where he’s taking Culinary Arts. My 12-year-old is open to learning how to do everything. His mind is an open sponge.
We tested cooking a few of their favorites on different temperatures at different times until we we’re all comfortable with timing it to a T along with the correct temps. So let’s get to it!
Let’s start with a grill cheese sandwich. Yes I’m sure that everyone reading this post is an expert Grill Cheese maker however this post is to show how easy and fast you can make lunch for the kids or have them prepare their own lunch.
Items Needed:
- Bread Slices
- Block Cheese
- Melted Butter
- Frozen Tater Tots
We covered the pieces of bread with melted butter on the outer side that would be face down in the air fryer followed by adding slice cheese (sliced by mom) to the bread.
Set your Air Fryer to your desired temperature (290 for us) and cook for 7-8 minutes. I suggest flipping if you’re the type of person who needs to flip your sandwich. I flipped at the 4 minute mark.
The process is super simple. The kids will fall in love and its less clean up than preparing them on the stove top or in the oven. My kids have even used shredded cheese instead of sliced cheese.
DID YOU KNOW THAT TATER TOTS MAKE THE PERFECT SNACK?
Yes is the correct answer! The second favorite item that my 12-year-old loves to cook in our new air fryer is tater tots. OMG! This kid has probably gone through 8 bags of frozen tater tots. Go figure! It’s suppose to be a snack but this boy makes it a meal. He’ll pile as many inside that can fit sometimes. It took a few tries but my baby boy has the time and temp down pack. He cooks them on 450 for 12-15 minutes. They cook perfect and golden brown.
