Can you imagine entering one of the busiest McDonald’s in select areas where they have completely transformed the busy restaurant that normally sells all of your favorites to a one stop shop that allows the entire community, regular customers and people from all over to come inside or pull up to the drive-thru to be one of the first tasters of the all new Mac Jr.? Yes you read that correctly! I was invited out to experience this once and a lifetime opportunity on yesterday. Granted I didn’t really know what to expect. I’ve attended thousands of private media tasting but never one that has been opened to the general public. I live in the surrounding Atlanta areas so there were three locations to select from to attend from 10:30am to 7pm:
- 1166 Ralph Abernathy Blvd.
- 5774 Buford Hwy NE (Doraville)
- 4415 Wade Green Rd. (Kennesaw)
Upon arrival to the McDonald’s located at 1166 Ralph Abernathy Blvd I immediately noticed that not only was the drive-thru jammed back but there was absolutely no parking spaces left and the inside was jam pack. Hey! Keep in mind that its like 10:45am! When I entered the location there were mounds of patrons lined up in an orderly fashion patiently awaiting their turns to get their first taste of the Mac Jr. (Did you see the above picture?) Cool Right? For one complete day these three McDonald’s all served a limited menu. The restaurant was filled with City of Atlanta Officials, patrons, Fox News, Influencers and individuals from the community. What really stuck out to me was the mix crowd of professionals and homeless individuals. I can appreciate that McDonald’s ensures that everyone is treated equally and this particular special event in this particular neighborhood was a pivotal station for a day that provided Mac Jr. meals to countless individuals that would normally not be able to take advantage of this type of event. That stood out to me in a major way. As an influencer we are invited to countless events that many times fill our bellies but to be immersed in this community initiative it makes you feel amazing. GREAT JOB McDonald’s!
Did you know that McDonald’s introduced the Big Mac in 1968? In 1975, the special sauce got its own call-out in the signature Big Mac commercial, touting the burger’s components — “Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. Just imagine now you have the world’s favorite burger in a junior version that is perfect for when your on-the-go. The question that everyone asked during my live streams was does the Mac Jr. have sesame seeds on the bun? Ummm YES!
The all new Mac Jr. sandwich features a single layer of 100% sear-sizzled beef, one slice of melty American cheese served on a sesame seed bun with crisp lettuce, minced onions, tangy pickles and iconic Big Mac sauce (Yep the secret special sauce).
Owner Leon Goodrum of several locations was on site greeting each and every visitor. He was surprised during the festivities with a Proclamation from Officials from The City of Atlanta.
Amongst others in attendance Hot 107.9 FM, home of The Rickey Smiley show was on the scene providing beats for the crowd as customers took memorable pictures at the McDonald’s photo booth.
Did I forget to mention that McDonald’s was also giving away 10,000 Limited Edition bottles of their Big Mac Special Sauce? I received Bottle No. 4,976 of 10,000.
