I was recently having a conversation with a friend about Owning The Room and she had a concern with adjusting to the room. She found herself in a situation where she was around fellow entrepreneurs who were more established and further along in life. As she strolled the room she found that others were owning the room while she was wandering around alone. When she mentioned how she felt we talked about ways that she could work towards owning the room. Here are 3 Ways To Own The Room:
WHAT DOES “OWN THE ROOM MEAN?”
Owning the room simply is an expression that means commanding the respect, attention, and action of others in a situation.
HOW TO OWN THE ROOM:
Below are five ways to own a room. Each one can stand on its own, but magic happens when you combine them all.
It’s imperative that you have confidence when commanding your audience’s attention. It’s been proven that confidence shows that your more credible and is shows that you’re very confident. Having confidence and influence go hand in hand. When others see your confidence people are more drawn to trust and believe you. It makes it easier for them to follow you.
The second way to own a room is with through your delivery skills. People watch your movement, gestures and how you vocalize yourself. The energy that you give off predicts how other perceive you. Your tone in the room sets the stage for how others interact with you and gives off an energetic welcoming vibe to those in the room. Remember you attract the energy that you give off.
The final way to own any room is to tell amazing stories the people in the room. Storytelling is a fantastic way to get to know others and own the room. This gives you the opportunity to assert yourself as the expert. Here’s a list of stories that you can share:
- Personal Story
- Life Lesson Story
- Your Company Story
