In today’s crazy world how many times do you actually take moments during your day, week or month to make yourself a priority. Do you find yourself searching for free time for yourself? The past year I have often found myself being more intentional about making more time for myself. I have the same amount of hours in the day as everyone else and prioritizing is KEY for my life. The past few months I have been chatting with a few of my great friends about simple ways to prioritize time for ourselves and some me time.
#1 TAKE TIME TO PRAY
Before I start my day I pray and I never end my day without prayer. I am a firm believer that prayer changes things and I often find myself praying throughout the day. If you’re not a person who prays perhaps you prefer to meditate. Taking moments to talk with God is a powerful tool.
#2 TAKE A BREAK OFTEN
It’s perfectly alright to take a break. Breaks help rejuvenate your mind and body. You don’t have to feel guilty about taking time off from your busy schedule and life to enjoy some time to yourself. As a business woman I find myself being pulled in so many directions. I have intentionally scheduled monthly massages, nail and pedicure appointments to have myself pampered. I have also found that taking a day to myself to enjoy a nice lunch and relax has helped me be more productive.
#3 LEARN TO SAY NO
There is nothing wrong with saying NO. I’ve learned to say “no” to others request that would have normally inconvenienced me. I used to say “yes” too much and it caused me to lack in some areas. This year I am only doing things that are beneficial to my life, family, brand or businesses. I’ve found that many request to do things don’t add value to myself nor does it bring me joy.
#4 CREATE A SCHEDULE
Schedules are life! Schedules allow you to prioritize your day. I have a schedule for my day Monday through Friday starting from 6:30AM until 11PM and it has been a godsend. I have my entire day planned and scheduled out to help me with managing my time. It’s no different than being on a set school schedule that you would follow in high school except you have the ability to create the time slots.
#5 TALK A WALK OFTEN
Early morning walks help set the tone for my day and long walks in the evening help me to unwind from a long day. Walks also serve as a form of exercising that take very little action just a desire to dedicate time to taking your walk. If you feel like you don’t have enough time in your day to walk, why not park your car farther away from your office so you can take advantage of a few extra minutes of walking.
