Are you a lover of all things Tech? This week I had the opportunity to attend a VIP Best Buy Tech Home event at the North Point Mall. As I traveled to North Point Mall I had no idea what was in store for me during the tour. As I approached the check-in desk I was surprised to see that the space had the appearance of a mini house inside a huge mall. I was greeted with a warm smile from one of the staff members before we headed inside to take a sneak peek. As we talked for a moment I was intrigued to find out what exactly is a Tech Home and here what I learned:
- Best Buy has single handily brought to life the latest in home technology at their Tech Home in the Mall of America where customers can have the opportunity to touch and try some of the coolest and most innovative in technology products in a homelike environment.
- Best Buy Geek Squad has the ability to bring the experience to life by getting your tech connected and up and running immediately.
- Customers can now tour the Tech Home with an expert Blue Shirt or Geek Squad Agent to learn about the latest in CE and Connected Home.
- Customers may schedule a free In-Home Consultation with an In-Home Advisor, a new service from Best Buy in the Atlanta market.
Are you all ready to see what Samsung has been working on to help make all of our lives easier. We’ll grab your popcorn and let’s get this party started.
Did you all know that Samsung SmartThings Hub is the brain of your smart home? Well let me explain how awesome it is and how it transforms your home into a Smart Home. The SmartThings Hub connects wireless with hundreds of compatible smart devices such as smart lights, locks, outlets, thermostats and more which allows you to monitor, secure and control your entire home from anywhere, from your smart phone with the SmartThings app. The Blue Shirt Agent explained on the tour that once you have the Samsung SmartThings Hub and free SmartThings app, you can add as many devices as you want to customize your smart home. Cool Right? Guess what? It compatible with ZigBee, Z-Wave and IP-connected devices. It also works with the following brands: Samsung, Honeywell, Schlage, Yale, First Alert, D-Link, OSRAM LIGHTIFY, Leviton, Bose, Cree, and others.
Imagine in the vestibule area where the kids run in from school, hang their jacket and kick off their shoes as they enter the home there is a SmartThings Motion Sensor. I love that you can trigger lights and other connected devices to turn on when there is movement, and monitor temperature. The SmartThings Motion Sensor is wireless, simple to install, and super easy to connect to your SmartThings Hub..
The Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor is definitely an amazing piece of the entire smart home. The Blue Shirt Agent demonstrated how placing the sensor in your child’s book bag or even around your pets collar you can stay connected to your love ones as they enter and leave your home. What I really love about the SmartThings Arrival Sensor is that I can even place on inside my son’s car whose in college so I am aware when he’s arriving home from class.
You will also receive a notification on your phone when your child(ren) arrive home from school or if the pet leaves the house. Just think you could also trigger different actions to take place when you arrive or leave home like automatically turning on the lights or off, unlocking or locking the door.
In my opinion this is by far one of the easiest ways to turn your home into a smart home. Who wouldn’t want to add smartness to their home with the SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit. Contains a SmartThings Hub, two Multipurpose Sensors, a Motion Sensor, and an Outlet.
My attention was immediately drawn to the Samsung Gear S2 Smartwatch. I love the fact that its very sleek yet fashionable, designed for the speed in your life The innovative circular face and bezel allow you to navigate effortlessly. This beauty also allows your to get notifications from your phone to your wrist with ease. The Gear S2 has the ability to receive calendar notifications, news updates and text. The Geek Squad agent also mentioned that there is a built-in S Health app that empowers your active lifestyle. You can track your steps and check your heart rate.
