**I received Covenant Kids Book 1, The Law in exchange for my honest review. All opinions in this post are my own.**
Perfect for young readers ages seven to thirteen, Covenant Kids–Book One: The Law is both an adventure-filled graphic novel and a thoughtful guide through the Bible’s main stories. The first in a series of twelve, this book covers the biblical stories from Creation through Abraham. Author Andrew Youngblood has a degree in theology and experience both teaching Scripture and running schools. Designed to show how exciting and beautiful the Old Testament is, Covenant Kids reveals what the Bible is really about–God’s great love for each of us.
The new president in the book made it a law that the Bible could only be studied on Sunday’s, and in the book Christianity could not be spoken of during weekdays or outside of church. My son was definitely feeling some type of way while reading through this portion. The book stated that the Law breakers would be turned in to authorities, but the cliff hanger is that the book ends with a man going missing. We we’re like SERIOUSLY?

As we continued to read the book we learned that the books primary purpose was to help children understand Gods love and that God wants to bring us into a loving relationship with Him through His word-the Bible. Everyone has a different learning style and I loved how this book breaks its lessons down to simplicity.

When I was a little girl my parents were very instrumental in ensuring that my younger sister and I attended church weekly. It was a regimen that we did as long as I can remember. Our foundation of our family was built on believing in God and his Holy Word. There wasn’t a Sunday that went by that we didn’t attend Sunday Service unless we were traveling and even then we attended one in the area in which we were visiting. I remember the amazing times that we had on church. For my family Sundays were a jumpstart for our week. These are the same learned behaviors that I taught my three boys as building fundamentals for their lives.
My childhood experiences have built the foundation for my adult life. It’s amazing how basic foundations build great character. This book was the perfect addition to my son’s biblical library. The moment that the book arrived memories began to flood from my childhood and as my youngest son and I ready the Covenant Kids I became excited to continue to create memories with my family so that later in life they can continue the same tradition.
