EASY SUMMER DESSERT: HAMILTON BEACH GRILLED POUNDCAKE TOPPED WITH MACERATED STRAWBERRIES

Hey Babes! Who’s ready for the Summer? I’ll raise my hand first! After being quarantined for over a year this girl is ready to come outside and have some fun! Those of you who have been following my blog for a while already know that I love to travel just as much as I love to share some amazing recipes with you.

This post is sponsored by Hamilton Beach. I was provided a Hamilton Beach Searing Grill to conduct my review. All opinions are my own.

Hamilton Beach Searing Grill

I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with Hamilton Beach again. They recently sent over one of their newest items that just so happens to be perfect for the Summer Season. The Hamilton Beach Searing Grill with removable nonstick plate is perfect for when you want to get an outdoor flavor…indoors. If you happen to camp outside in your yard like my boys and I do sometimes then this is also perfect for those occasions as well. Simply run a cord from the house to your tent area and cook.

The Hamilton Beach Searing Grill has some amazing features:

  • Adjustable temperature control
  • Window that lets you watch food as it cooks
  • Power & Preheat lights
  • Removable Nonstick Plate
  • Removable lid for easy cleanup
  • Extra-large drip tray (removes for easy dishwasher cleanup)

Traditionally grills are used for cook steaks, burgers, hot dogs, kabobs, chicken, shrimp, fish tacos or corn on the cob on searing grills but I took a different approach. In my former life I loved to bake all the time so with the weather getting warmer and my youngest son transitioning to High School while my middle son is graduating from High School I thought it should create a special treat to celebrate them this week. Have you ever had grilled pound cake with macerated strawberries and powder sugar? In case you haven’t you’re in for a quick sweet treat. This recipe is so easy and quick to make. You can literally do it while the kids are at school or while they are in summer day camp. This Southern treat is sure to be a favorite in your home and amongst family and friends.

Easy Macerated Strawberries

Ingredients: 1 lb Fresh Strawberries, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract.

How to Macerate Strawberries: Allow fresh strawberries to sit out at room temperature. Wash, hull and slice strawberries. Next add sugar and vanilla extract. Mix until all strawberries are fully covered with sugar. Cover and allow them to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

Grilled Pound Cake

You have a few options. You can use pound cake that you have already previously baked that you froze or refrigerated like I did or you can purchase your favorite pound cake or sponge cake from your local market or bakery. This is the easy part. Once you slice your cake to your desired size lightly brush real butter on both sides with a pastry brush. This is just an extra coating for when you grill your cake. Once the Hamilton Beach Searing Grill is pre-heated simply lay your cake on the grill. That it! I grilled each side for about 3-5 minutes and topped with my macerated strawberries and sprinkles of powder sugar.
