Family Backpacking: New York City

Wandering Around New York City With A 9 & 13-Year Old

Our Family Backpacking journey continues with our recent day trip to New York. We took a trip up from Atlantic City (AC) {Click Here} which really isn’t that far driving and the kids are always on board with road trips. We left AC in the morning and arrived shortly in New York. The main reason that I wanted to go was to grab me a hotdog and pizza off the street. I wouldn’t normally per say like food off the street but my top two places to indulge are in New York and Jamaica. Needless to say that both my pizza and hot dog were amazing. I apologize for not taking a picture but hey what can I say I demolished those babies down with the quickness. LOL!

The kids & I did a little shopping and normally a little would mean a lot but remember we only each had a back pack but lucky for me my middle son’s book bag expanded which meant that I could grab a few more pieces that were foldable and would fit perfectly. My youngest mentioned catching a cab in NYC. I guess he’s seen one too many movies with people hailing a taxi but just for the his sake we grabbed one and rode around the corner to our next stop, The Empire State Building.

We made our way to the Empire State Building and since this was our first time visiting we decided to snap a few pictures during our visit. The kids really enjoyed themselves and chatted amongst one another about the different facts that they learned in school and the fact provided while visiting. This was indeed an experience and I would encourage everyone to visit there at least once.

You all know how I love fresh beautiful flowers.

Then our last and final stop was in Brooklyn to see Papá A.K.A my kids Abuelo for a quick visit before we headed back to Atlantic City.

We can definitely say that we made the best of our weekend trip to Atlantic City & New York. Whew! We had a packed weekend. Stay tuned to see the other places that we visited during our trip because we also spent a day in Philadelphia.
