Hey Darlings! This post is so over due! So a few years ago my BF of over 40 years and I took a road trip to Miami to work with one of my clients. Yes! A few years ago! I had been meaning to write-up a post but I kept putting if off and just either business picked up or I was just distracted. So the other day I was cleaning out my cell and ran across a few of my pictures. Just so we’re clear there aren’t a thousand fancy images because the food was just so delicious it didn’t stand a chance once I took the first bite.
Here’s a little information on Shakers: Shakers Conch House, Inc. is a family owned business that became a reality of the father, Hudgon, and son, Raynard, desires to open a restaurant geared to fast food concept. In January 1989, the Milbry Family finalized plans for renovations at 10149 N.W. 22nd Avenue. Beginning in April 1989, the Milbry’s and other family members used their expertise to complete the restaurant project. Shaker’s officially opened on January 8, 1990 Serving what they love, conch, or what they call it “Fruit of the Sea”.
As I stated earlier my best friend has frequented this spot several times so it was only natural that we make a pit stop during our visit. Shakers is a Black Owned Restaurant located 10149 NW 22nd Ave, Miami, FL 33147. Their menu is not limited to seafood. You can order anything from my favorite friend conch to pork chop. The restaurant is only take out however there is a little room should you want to chow down on your food immediately but please keep in mind that it’s mainly take out. I would highly suggest adding a little extra time when planning your visit because they always have a crowd and they cook everything to order. I have never visited and not had extremely hot food. They take great pride in providing you “The Best” food and service. I loved that everyone was amazing and they really understand the value of great customer service.
My best friend and I both ordered the friend shrimp and conch with fries then we got greedy and went back to order some fried oysters to share as we headed to my client’s event. I’ve had conch all of my life and I’ve even had some in the Caribbean and this is by far the best white conch next to the ones that I have enjoyed in both Jamaica and the Bahamas. Can you say YUMMY! Hands down this is definitely one of the best well kept hidden gems that I have ever discovered since creating my Hidden Gems Series.
Stay tuned because we’re working on a quick getaway to Miami soon and we’ll definitely be hitting up Shakers Conch House.
