Admiring Niagara Falls From Both Sides
Hey Guys! We’ve set off on another crazy family adventure! The Kids and I were so excited to visit Niagara Falls for our 2016 Spring Break. We made a vow as a family to explore and travel to at least one unknown area once a year. The kids had the opportunity to place our destination to a vote and collectively we all decide where we should visit. Once our destination was decided we actively watched the weather like a hawk and up until two weeks before we were scheduled to leave the weather took a sudden turn from the high 60’s to 37 degrees. UGH! Hey we’ve learned over the years that it’s always a gamble when traveling.
We’re sure that the low temperatures would have probably frightened off some families from traveling to Niagara Falls and opting to suddenly change their plans but not us and neither did thousands of other families. I guess you can say that we were born “Adventurous”. Our first stop once as we arrived was to visit Niagara Falls on The American Side. Despite the weather the area was surprisingly packed with people from all walks of life. We initially thought that it would be a ghost town because of the sudden drop in the weather but the Falls were actually packed as if it was the Summer.
The American side of Niagara Falls was definitely a beautiful scenic view. The moment that the kids and I laid eyes on Niagara Falls it felt like we were floating in the sky. The Falls are simply beautiful! The images that you see on television doesn’t do it any justice until your actually standing there and at that very moment were so amazed at God’s Beautiful, Miraculous Creation.
Niagara Falls is a city on the Niagara River, in New York State. It’s known for the vast Niagara Falls, which straddle the Canadian border. Its name for the three waterfalls that line the international border between both Canada and the United States; specifically, between the province of Ontario and the state of New York which forms the southern end of the Niagara Gorge.
The scenery was so beautiful I took an opportunity to strike my signature dancer pose on the American side of the Falls.
The kids and I were excited to view the Horseshoe Falls from the Canadian side once we had the opportunity to view the American Falls although both sides were amazing the Canada side provided an amazing view with two rainbows. We learned that the international boundary line was originally drawn through the Horseshoe Falls in 1819, but the boundary line has long been disputed due to the natural erosion and construction.
Niagara Falls offers countless attractions to visit that include:
Hornblower Niagara Cruises: Covered in a signature Niagara Falls raincoat you will be amazed at the scenery directly at the foot of the falls. If you’re a daredevil than sailing close to the Horseshoe will bring you many thrills.
Journey Behind The Falls: Allows you to take a journey through the tunnels while getting a close look at the falls while listening to the boats pass and the sounds of the waterfalls. Definitely a must see!
Whirlpool Aero Car: The Aero Car suspended high above the Niagara Gorge gives you a bird’s eye view of the Niagara Whirlpool.
Butterfly Conservatory: Stroll the rain forest with thousands of exotic butterflies. Click here.
Traveling between the border is a breeze just make sure that you have your passport to cross over. The great thing is no matter which side you plan to stay on you have two options to cross the border by walking over on the rainbow bridge or driving across the border. It is however much inexpensive to stay in the hotels on the American side and simply cross over as often as needed into Canada.
Although the weather decided to have a mind of its own the kids and I all agreed that the scenery at Niagara Falls was definitely something that you just had to experience in person. As a child I dreamed of one day visiting and to finally visit and share the experience with my kids was a dream come true. If you’re looking for a magical place to visit with your significant other or family, Niagara Falls is definitely a place to add to your travel journeys. Stay tuned for more family adventures!
