How many times do you set aside time to just unplug? Unplug from posting to your social media every day or multiple times a day. How many times have you taken that time and focused on God’s word or utilize that time to focus on building your career, brand or adding value to your life. We spend far too much time focusing on things that don’t benefit our lives.
This past week I decided to just take some time to myself and my family. This week I’m still working while taking a vacation but I decided that my time on social media would be very limited and only a necessity for my clients. Since I make the bulk of my income from social media this was a huge unplugging process. My business demands for me to wear multi roles: Owner, Social Media Manager, Social Media Consultant & Trainer, Content Creator, Photographer, PR Rep and Risk Management Commander-in-Chief. It all depends on the day, the situation and the client. The past week has been smooth sailing until today when a few hiccups occurred and a minor fire that had to be deflamed. It’s in those very moment that all of my unplug intentional plans fly out the door and I find myself in full throttle Olivia Pope mode. The fire lasted for about two hours and boom it was over. I was back to unplug mode.
It’s unexplainable how amazing I feel. This vacation went by fast and in a few days I will be right back to crazy entrepreneur mode and in another week crazy mommy mode because my kids will all be returning back to school and the house will be completely empty and quit for eight hours until the school day ends. I’m learning that breaks no matter how long or short REALLY MATTER! I plan to be very intentional about unplugging a few times a month to refuel my mind, body and soul.
