Is it possible to increase your faith when everything around you seems to be going wrong? How do you increase your faith? Even as a Christian I find my self may times struggling to keep my faith. I believe if more Christians were more transparent and open about this discussion that it would be beneficial and helpful to someone else. Beautiful pictures and great captions on social media doesn’t mean that people don’t have their struggles because believe me they do. The difference is they decide what to share and what not to share with their followers, friends and family. This post will serve as a starting point discussing three very simple ways to help you increase and build your faith in God.
1. READ THE WORD OF GOD
All power comes from reading and hearing the word of God. In Romans 10:17 (NKJV) states, So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 New International Version (NIV) says, Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Here we read two different versions yet they both mean the identical same thing. It all boils down to us having “Right Noe Faith” even in the midst of a storm. We have to remember that God has a plan for our life but faith without works is dead.
Having faith of a mustard seed is simply planting your unique faith garden. In order for anything to grow you must nurture and feed your crop. This works the same with your faith. Knowing God’s promises and what the he has promised you is having faith in something that you can’t see but you know that its there. Whenever you find your faith a bit weary turn to the bible and meditate on his word for empowerment.
2. PRAY
Have you ever heard that there is power in prayer? Sometimes you have to fall to your knees and pray. Life happens and we get caught up in the daily grind and find ourselves too busy to pray or squeezing in a prayer. NO SIR! NO MA’AM! How would you feel if God squeezed in a blessing. God isn’t looking for a fancy or formal prayer. He wants to hear your heart. He wants you to have an authentic personal conversation with him. He’s your father. There isn’t anything that he doesn’t already know, he just wants to hear it from you first hand. He wants you to spend time with him. Are you tithing God with your time? There are 24 hours in a day so are you giving him his tenth? I strongly urge you to commit to praying to him on a more consistent basis and I promise your faith will increase and you will feel a closer connection with the Almighty.
3. WORSHIP AND PRAISE
Taking time to worship and praise God shows how much you appreciate what he’s done for you, what he will do for you and to thank him for his gracious keeping power. PRAISE IS WHAT I DO! Whenever you have the opportunity (for me it’s daily) you should worship and give God praise. Worship and Praise will be in different forms for different individuals. Some examples may be a shout out to God, a praise dance, raising of your arms, bending over in reverence, writing him a sweet letter, tears of love or spreading his word to others. There is no right or wrong way to worship or praise him. Remember through praise and worship your demonstrating your faith in him and the results is God’s love and blessing being released. As long as I have breathe in my body I will continue to praise his HOLY NAME.
