THE CHAMP IS HERE! THE CHAMP IS HERE! I can imagine those were the word flowing through Tiger Woods head as he won the Masters. According to Webster a champion is a warrior, fighter, militant advocate or defender or one that does battle for another’s right or honor. In my opinion these are all great descriptions of Tiger Woods. I’ve been following Tiger Woods since his start and although he initially made history life just happens but does that mean that he’s no longer a champion? Absolutely not! I think that society and the people inside it count a person worthy based on what they have and the squeaky clean reputation that your expected to maintain. Let’s not forget that Tiger is a man and human. Don’t we all make mistakes? The issue is your dirty deeds are not dragged through national media.
He made history at the age of 21 winning his first green jacket. One moment he basically has it all then one day life happens and he deemed a loser. You see in society’s eye when Woods fell the bottom basically dropped out from under him according to media and naysayers. Like seriously every media outlet came out of the wood works to document is rise and his fall except the fall coverage seemed greater. They say good news doesn’t travel but bad news flies. The same man that was once a CHAMPION in their eyes was now basically NOTHING! Folks talked, sneaked pictures, shared mug shots and added fuel to the fire.
The horrible world that we live in basically tried their hardest to break him but he was still a CHAMPION. Does a champion give up? No! Absolutely Not! A CHAMPION is FIGHTER so they continue to FIGHT against all odds and that’s exactly what he did. His start or comeback was slow and although some may have noticed they didn’t notice because they counted the CHAMPION out. The horrific one minuet interviews and comments from world-renowned sports anchor men that were once avid Tiger Woods fans all counted him out. They said that he was too old and injured to ever come back but he was still a CHAMPION. We saw an injury dang on near end his career but through it all Tiger Woods persevered and continued to FIGHT for what would become his biggest COMEBACK in history because you see he’s a CHAMPION.
Today the entire world watched in aw as Tiger Woods, golf prodigy at the tender age of 43 through all of the adversary, pain, suffering and determination to show the world that he is and will always be a CHAMPION won his fifth Masters title on Sunday, April 14, 2019 exactly 22 years and a day later. You see CHAMPIONS ARE ALWAYS CHAMPIONS! Tiger Woods had nearly an 11-year-long golf championship drought but that doesn’t mean that he’s no longer champion. Did I mention that he finished his 22nd Masters 13 under par? My God! Winning the tournament with a single stroke over Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele, whom were all tied for second place. Ironically in the same way that Tiger Woods father, Earl Woods would hug him after his wins was the exact way that he showered his son with love. PRICELESS!
How’s that for a CHAMPION? Through Tiger Woods career he has exemplified at least four characteristics of a true champion:
#1 HAVE THE HEART OF A CHAMPION
#2 BE WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE
#3 FACE YOUR FEARS
#4 FINISH STRONG
CONGRATULATIONS TIGER! WE LOVE YOU AND YOUR DEFINITELY OUR CHAMPION!
