Break

TODAY I ALLOWED MYSELF TO TAKE A BREAK

This morning when I woke up I decided that the kids and I would head down to Helen, Georgia to ‘TUBE ON THE HOOCH”. Once everyone was bright eyed and ready we loaded up the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander that I’m test driving this week and set off for our two hour drive. Initially I thought that the ride would be a little long but actually it was a great ride. I had a moment to unwind, laugh, joke and enjoy life. There were no deadlines to meet, emails to answer, calls to take or need to put out fires. It was just a nice ride to reflex on the day, the hour and the moment at hand. I honestly haven’t had a moment like that in a very long time.

Break

Once we made it to Helen I felt like a kid in the candy store without a care in the world. Hey! Perhaps its because I decided to unplug for the day and enjoy nature and my kids. It’s rare that I get a chance to just unwind and not always be in adult mood helping others with work, business, church or family. It became apparent on today that even as adults its imperative to take breaks. That’s why I have always had a love for travel. It doesn’t matter if its an hour away or twelve going somewhere new and unknown always provides me with that much needed break that I’ve been craving for months.

Summer just came and its here to stay. We’ll at least for now. The last trip that we took was so rushed because there was so much to do in such a short amount of time. I made the decision that after the last trip I would be more intentional about my time rather its traveling, working or even self care. I wouldn’t really call today a mental break due to the fact that I just needed a mini break. I’ve found that I have been so much more productive after taking a mini break lucky for me my recent break was a short trip to Helen. I’ll tell you all about my experience on tomorrow.

The lesson that I learned on today was that its imperative for me to prioritize breaks and moments for myself. Taking a break doesn’t have to always be about getting away. A break could mean unplugging from technology, eliminate answering emails for a few hours, lounging in bed all day in your favorite PJ’s sipping a latte or hot cup of tea, having a spontaneous lunch with a friend or heading to the park and reading your favorite novel. This was my very first break of many to come. I’ll be more intentional on rejuvenating my mind, body and soul.

WHEN IS THE LAST TIME THAT YOU TOOK A BREAK?
