This past Sunday at church we hosted our second annual Citywide Wedding and this year we added a twist. The theme was Wakanda. We asked our congregation to dress in African attire and they not only showed up but showed out! It was an amazing day in ministry and as always a pleasure to be blessed to serve. The day started off like any other normal yet crazy jam packed service. This service was particularly different. Couples came from all over to come together in unity and have their wedding take place at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and be officiated by our Pastor, Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant.
The couples were required to attend Pre-Marital counseling and upon completion they were ready to take their vows. I love that my ministry took care of every single detail for the couples. This year we had 13 couples but only 12 couples attended the ceremony as one groom was battling cancer. Dr. Bryant will be taking the ceremony to him. The couples received wedding gowns, tuxedos, rings as well as a beautiful reception. The wedding was amazing. Click here to see media coverage and images.
STYLE
It’s no secret that I love all African Apparel and I have a closet full of some the most beautiful dresses that I have acquired over the past years. This wedding occasion was special and I did not want to end up twinsies with someone else during the service. Thank God for Avah’s Closet, “Authentic African Fashion”. Avah’s Closet has been my go to for years due to her creative flair of stylish African Fashion with a hint of culture. She uses only the best fabrics and the majority of her pieces are one of a kind. I paired my custom skirt and shirt set with a pair of florescent yellow heels to accent the color in my design of my skirt.
I love her speed of service and the convenience. All I had to do was send her my measurements and although I’m sure you can select your fabrics but I prefer to jus let Adai select the fabric and print. I love a great surprise. Trust me I haven’t been disappointed yet. I was in love with the print and design. My only request was that I could add a petticoat under my skirt and she exceeded my expectations. If your in the market for a few custom pieces please check her and her fashion pieces out at www.avahscloset.com
