W Hotels Presents “WHAT SHE SAID” with Keri Hilson

This weekend I had the pleasure of being invited out by the  W Hotel ATL Buckhead to attend their latest installation of “WHAT SHE SAID” series. The W Hotel has been providing an amazing platform that has afforded influential women to reach the next generation of powerful women. The “What She Said”  series allows women to come together while mixing and mingling. The platform allows you to fellowship with inspirational women from all walks of the industry. Since its inception, W Hotels has always worked with female icons in fashion, music, tech, media, design and fitness to enrich the travel experiences and provide a platform for emerging visionaries.

The latest event included Singer, Song Writer and Actress Keri Hilson, moderated by BMI, Vice President, Creative Catherine Brewton.

As everyone gathered for the anticipated conversation with Keri Hilson the attendees became excited about what the afternoon conversation. The conversation started Keri spoke about how influential her mother was and still is in her life. She spoke about her mother’s goal to ensure that she had the best education which lead to her love for sports that ultimately helped her in her professional life.

We did not anticipate the moments during the panel taking a sentimental turn and Keri began to share her bouts with depression and how being invited to speak on a panel with Shanti Das led to her telling her authentic story about her struggle with depression. As a media professional I can appreciate her sharing the issues that she faced and although dealing with depression one would have never imagined what Hilson was going through because she did such and amazing job of masking it in her everyday life and those moments when in the spotlight.
