Hey Love Muffins! In life we prepare for so many things like test, athletic try-outs, job interviews, dates, birthdays, holidays and so much more. You get the idea. When we make up our minds that we want God to bless us with a mate do we really prepare ourselves? Sure women work hard once their engaged to have the perfect body for their wedding dress or the men hitting the gym to be a little more buffer on his special day.
We prepare for many things in life…
We study hard for exams in school and college.
We prepare ourselves intellectually and emotionally for job interviews.
We do a lot of research before finalizing big purchases and major investments.
In the same way, we need to be diligent in preparing ourselves for marriage – a lifelong commitment. Let’s look at a few ways a single Christian can spiritually prepare for marriage.
#1 WAITING ON GOD
Everything has its timing and place. We feel like the waiting game takes so long and its not often fun during the process. We live in a society where everything is rushed. In order to have something that last its important to be patient and wait on God.
Marriage simply can’t be rushed. We must be prepared both mentally and spiritually. During the wait we should ask God to prepare our heart for his timing. God will eventually bring the right person into our lives at the appointed time. God is an on time God!
But marriage is one thing that cannot be hurried. Prepare your heart to wait for God’s timing. He will bring the right person along at just the right time and it’ll be well worth the wait.
#PRAY WITHOUT CEASING
We must continue to pray without ceasing rather your married or single. Prayer changes things. We’ve seen it happen countless times in our and others lives. Praying is like remembering to eat a healthy balanced meal. It’s fuel for your soul and spirit. As a single woman or man its up to us to make it apart of our lifestyle which will trickle over into our marriage. We often seek out the world for answers when many are boldly written in the bible. We use prayer as a direct line of communication with God. It’s the way that we talk to him and if you open your spirit up and believe you will be able to hear his response. Talking with God is intimate and personal.
While your in your waiting stages take that time to create a prayer regimen between you and God
#SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST TO GOD
Submit all of your request unto God. It’s natural for you to have specific characteristics that you desire in a mate and there’s nothing wrong with making your request to God. In fact why not write down your specific request of the person that you want to marry and pray over them. You can be as detailed as you would like. For me as an example I want us to eat from the same spiritual plate meaning be in the same ministry learning the same biblical lessons together. We must remember that God will grant our righteous hearts desire. Don’t be afraid to tell the Lord what you want and are looking for. Remember God is your Father and as a child of God you can ask him any question or submit a request unto him without fear. He’ll never leave you nor forsake you. God only wants the best for you and your future spouse.
