The Commissioner of Tourism, Ms. Beverly Nicholson-Doty and The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism invited me out to their An Evening with the U.S. Virgin Islands this past Friday that took place in Buckhead. The evening was filled with many from St. Croix and the Islands, Media, Travel Agents & Writers and members of the Tourism board. We enjoyed amazing Caribbean Cuisines and Desserts made by that simply made me reminisce of my many journeys to the Islands for both business and leisure.
I was especially excited to taste this amazing Caribbean Chef’s dish. The aroma from his dishes made me think of the way your favorite incense is inhaled and savored. Many may not understand but the aroma of the spices were simply breath-taking. The moment that I took a bite, I could taste the ginger and Caribbean Spices that can only be created in authentic Island Cuisine.
The sounds of the Caribbean music that was played during the media event were amazing. The music was sending good vibes and had everyone dancing.

Special Thank you to Ms. Desiree Foy-Fisher for gifting me an autographed copy of her book “As de Old People Would Say”. Fisher’s amazing book is a collection of Caribbean Pearls Wisdom & Expressions. I love all of the expressions but my favorite is “Nobody Want to Fix De Well Until Somebody Chile Fall In” which means Be Proactive, Not reactive. Again thank you Desiree, this is a book that will serve its purpose for many years to come. You can purchase one here.
The media event was held to celebrate the new addition to Delta Caribbean flights. Delta will now fly nonstop from Atlanta to St. Croix launching December 20. Delta has made booking a flight to St. Croix easy and allows you to spend more time on the beautiful beach than worrying about making travel arrangements. There are so many reasons to visit the Virgin Islands and just in case you need a few just in case the beautiful commercials and images that you have seen over the years are not enough here are a few reasons to visit.
- Carnival Time
- Weddings/Honeymoon
- Shopping
- Authentic Caribbean Cuisine
- Vacation/Golf (The courses are simply amazing)
If you’re not a world traveler like myself then perhaps you may not have a passport well guess what? No Passport For U.S. Citizen Required! St. Croix’s culturally rich Crucian Christmas Carnival is right around the corner with events occurring in December and January which is perfect timing to book your flight. I’m making plans to visit St. Croix hopefully in December so I can be one of the first if not the first blogger to take the new nonstop flight from Atlanta to St. Croix and document my stay as you all travel along with me through my blog and social media updates. I cam only imagine how awesome it would be to zip line and fly like Iron Man with St. Thomas Flyborading. I’m excited about the new flight to begin because St. Croix is one of the destinations on my bucket list.
