I was recently invited out to a Child Safety Lunch and Learn with Nissan and Bloggins Mamas. This was a special stop since Atlanta was a new addition to their tour thanks to a fellow influencer, Kimberly. The event was taking place in the midtown area at a popular restaurant No Mas Cantina. I’ve heard amazing things about them and even had a friend bring me an order a few months ago as they were passing through but this was actually my very first time visiting. The drive was a breeze just a little over 30 minutes for me which was perfect and thank God that the weather was a cool Fall day, not to hot and not too cool. Just PERFECT!
Upon arrival you could tell that the ambiance would be perfect for the days events. Once we arrived we said our hello’s during the meet and greet then headed inside the restaurant for an afternoon of great eats, education and test driving. Since the event was hosted by Bloggin Mamas there was a specification for educating hispanic moms but the principles apply to any mother no matter her ethnicity.
During the panel discussion it soon became very evident why the safety education was geared to hispanic families because I soon learned that they have a higher rate of safety issues and concerns as it relates to traveling with small children.
12 IMPORTANT FACTS
- Hispanic infants and toddlers are 10 times more likely to be unrestrained,
- Make sure that you buckle up!
- Types of Retractors:
- Emergency Looking Retractor
- Automatic Locking Retractor
- Switchable Retractor
- Ensure that you are using the appropriate child restraints.
- Keep in that rear facing crams are best for small kids.
- It’s very important that you DO NOT SKIP THE BOOSTER SEAT STAGE!!!
- Remember that a 3 point seat belt MATTERS MOMS!
- Your Child Restraint MUST BE LEVEL!
- Child safety seats have expiration dates.
- Always EMPLOY VEHICLE SAFETY FEATURES!
- Moms PLEASE AVOID DISTRACTED DRIVING!
- RECALLS MATTER MOMS!
The panel discussion was amazing and even as a mom of three I learned a wealth of knowledge that I will implement into my life as well a work diligently to ensure that my family, friends and audience are away of safety precautions to take that will save lives. The second part of our day was heading out in groups to take turns test driving some of our favorite Nissan’s and learning about their new child safety additions to the vehicles.
Perhaps my favorite was the Armada which has had my eye for eyes and since I am in the market for a new SUV I just had to put the pedal to the metal. So…guess what happens when you put a group of popular influencers in one vehicle? THIS!!
Why is my head twisted? Because I was the driver and I had to squeeze in LOL! Everyone who knows me knows that I love a big SUV! There is just something about sitting up high! The drive was so freaking smooth and did you notice how many of us were actually in the armada. A LOT! The features are next to none and the body plus the decor details are enough to make me run to the dealership TODAY!
Have You Heard About The Rear Door Alert Technology?
Nissan has levels up! During our Lunch & Learn we learned about Nissan’s new Rear Door Alert technology. We all know that we live in a world where parents are all of a sudden forgetting that their kids are in the act and although I personally find that hard to believe we’ve all seen it happen time and time again. The new technology aid parents/drivers in monitoring the door switches. This innovative technology will notice if the rear door was opens before a drive, but not afterward as well as alert the driver with a series of noticeable unique horn sounds. During our safety demonstration we learned that this innovative technology is available on the 2018 Pathfinder. Hopefully in the newer models to come Nissan will make it available on all of their vehicles.
